    Zimba Zangbu Sherpa
    Chairman
    Trained as a trekking guide in 1977, he went on to undertake a course in Rock and Ice Climbing from with UCPA at Argentiere, France in 1979 and a year later with UCPA at Le Bez, Serre Chevelier. One of the pioneers of the trekking industry in Nepal, he holds a “Diplome d’Honneur” in Alpinism from Ecole Nationale de Ski Et Alpinisme under the Ministre Delegue a la Jeunesse et aux Sports. For his contribution to development of mountain tourism he has been conferred with many awards to honor his involvement in the tourism sector. As a trained mountaineer he has climbed several peaks around the world namely Mount Blanc and Matterhorn in Europe, Ganesh Himal and Amadablam. An avid nature lover and a trekker at heart, he has visited most of the regions in Nepal and the book “Avec Zimba le Sherpa” written by the late Robert Rieffel chronicles the various treks undertaken by both of them together. In his capacity as the President of Nepal Mountaineering Association – the highest alpine body if Nepal - he was instrumental in the development of mountaineering in Nepal. He is the Immediate Past President of Nepal Mountaineering Association.

    Steven Benjamin Lama

    Steven has close to two decades experience in the organizing trips throughout the Himalayas. A freelance writer, English Language Instructor and an avid traveler he is passionate about the Himalayas and is always ready to share a story about the mountains. A graduate in humanities from an Indian University Steven Lama possesses an in depth knowledge of the Himalayas - Nepal, Tibet, Sikkim, Bhutan and Ladakh. With more than two decades of experience in organizing treks he is responsible for all the treks and expeditions organized by Atalante to various parts of the Himalayas. His attention to details and in depth knowledge about the Himalaya will ensure that you have a memorable holiday. He speaks English, French and Hindi fluently.

    Namgyal Zangbu Sherpa
    Chief Operations Officer
    Hailing from a Sherpa family it was natural for Namgyal Zangbu Sherpa to follow in the footsteps of his illustrious father and fore-fathers. An avid traveler, trekking has always been a serious occupation for him. After graduating in tourism and business management from Australia it was only natural for him to join the tourism industry. He has traveled extensively all over the country and has in depth knowledge on the Himalayas. He looks after the operations of the company. He speaks English, French and his native Sherpa language fluently. He is also a trained mountain guide with a Basic and Advanced Course in mountaineering.

    Laurent Rousseau
    Chief Accounts Officer
    A Frenchman by nationality but a Nepalese by heart, Laurent prides himself as being more Nepalese than most of us and that is why we call him Lo Tamang. Laurent is not only married to a Nepalese woman but adopted the country as his own. He first fell in love with the country when he came trekking to Nepal twenty years ago. He has travelled throughout Nepal and has firsthand knowledge about the mountains and its people. An outdoor person to the core he loves mountaineering, skiing, rock climbing and trekking. Born and brought up in the Alps the high mountains have always been his second home. He has also climbed Island Peak, Mera Peak and Amadablam. He speaks French, English and a bit of Nepali.

    Uttare Tamang
    Operation Manager
    Originally from Kanku Mural from Solu Khumbu region Uttare has been guiding Atalante trips since the last fifteen years. He started as a porter and then rose up the ranks to a Sherpa and then became a French Speaking guide. His history did not stop here. His passion for the mountains and attention to detail makes him a great travel companion. Safety of the client is of utmost importance to him. While guiding in the mountains a client fell ill in a very isolated place and without thinking about his own safety Uttare carried the client on his shoulders and rescued him. As a sign of appreciation he was able to spend two years in France where he learnt to speak French fluently. He has travelled extensively in the Himalayas and knows it like the back of his hand.  With him as the travel companion as well as an Operation Manager you know you are in good hands.

    Jean Michel Jorda

    Adventurer, traveler, film maker, story teller, sportsman- Jean Michel Jorda is a man of many facets. As a young boy this adventurer of Catalan origin spent time managing an inn for tourists around the lake of Annecy, his adopted city. Listening to the stories of travelers fascinated him and travelling became his passion. A thrill seeker to the core his quest for adventure has taken him to different parts of the globe. On his voyages around the world he has had many fascinating encounters and experienced interesting cultures. He has cycled extensively across the Great Himalayan Trail starting from Kanchenjunga in Eastern Nepal to Mount Kaïlash in Tibet and he is also the first person to cycle to Everest Base Camp.  He has also traversed Cordillera of Peru and the Mongolian steppes. He spends half the year travelling around the world experiencing various cultures, cycling, skiing, running and kayaking and shooting documentaries. He has documented his travels, the people he has met and the adventures he has had in the various films he has shot around the world.  With more than 25 documentaries to his credit he has produced and directed Outdoor Sports program broadcast on TV8 Mont Blanc.
